Además, se utilizó la palabra perejil para identificar a los haitianos quienes hablan creole y francés por lo que no pueden pronunciar bien la palabra. Por eso no se mataron a dominicanos negros como algunos dicen, sino haitianos que nacieron en territorio dominicano, porque obviamente los dominicanos hablan español y un haitiano sigue siéndolo donde sea que nazca. Finalmente, no se sabe una cifra exacta de los muertos, aunque todos sabemos que Trujillo mató a más dominicanos que haitianos durante su régimen.
