En la República Dominicana no existen apátridas, según su constitución: obtienen la nacionalidad los hijos de dominicanos o que tengan esa ciudadanía, independientemente del lugar en que nazcan. También inmigrantes residentes en el país siempre y cuando residan legalmente. Además, se puede obtener casándose con un dominicano. Mientras que la constitución haitiana establece que son haitianos hijos de haitianos sin importar el lugar en que nazcan. Por lo que los hijos de haitianos ilegales son haitianos, no apátridas y mucho menos "dominicanos de ascendencia haitiana", esto último no existe. Estos ilegales generalmente no quieren la cultura, historia y costumbres dominicanas, prefieren la de Haití, algunos hasta odian el país. Ellos hasta han creado organizaciones, películas en contra de RD y han mentido a organizaciones internacionales. Si fueran de verdad dominicanos eso debería preocuparle al gobierno, no a los haitianos, que les gusta exigir derechos en RD pero no en Haití.
