Clarifications:
When I said extinction, I don't mean that the Indians were exterminated, I mean that their ethnicity disappeared. And no, Dominicans are not 90% African unlike Haitians.
I forgot to mention that the French brought indigenous slaves to Saint Domingue (present-day Haiti) and mixed with the population.
Dominicans are not 100% Taínos, we are mostly mestizos. We are not as mestizo as the Haitians who are more than 95% African and their population at first glance is very homogeneous, as I said in the video they do have some indigenous DNA, but it is very little compared to the Dominicans. Therefore, we Dominicans are heirs of the Taínos both for having a large part of their DNA, their culture, words, a large part of their art, history, gastronomy, knowledge of culture and medicine.
